Filtrexx Soxx

Filtrexx applications are based on the use of Filtrexx Soxx: a unique mesh containment system. Filtrexx Soxx are tubular mesh textiles designed to hold substrate materials such as compost to create a three-dimensional tubular barrier. The filled Soxx can then be used for a variety of applications including: flood and erosion control, bank stabilisation, organic gardening, and natural play systems. Available in a range of sizes and strengths, Filtrexx Soxx are extremely versatile; they can be filled individually to your specified lengths, or as one continuous length.

Flood and Erosion Control

The best way to control a flood is to prevent it occuring. Filtrexx GroSoxx focus on holding dense soil media to assist with flood control and diversion of flood water. This allows for complete flood management on site, preserving as much of the natural site hydrology as possible. Common problems associated with frequent flooding include significant erosion of banks, and lack of vegetation establishment. Filtrexx seeks to control these issues with no major excavation or land disturbance, and a reduced ecological footprint.  

Bank Stabilisation

Bank Stabilisation focuses on the use of Filtrexx's heavy duty mesh tubing to provide: structural stability; protection from mass wasting, sloughing and wave action; erosion control; sediment control; and sustained vegetation health - all in one simple system. The system has been designed to withstand the high flow velocities and shear stress that alternative products cannot, while the vegetated armouring system has been specifically developed to establish and reinforce vegetation under intense hydraulic pressures.

Organic Gardening

While standard Filtrexx Soxx are primarily used for land improvement applications, GardenSoxx are designed to create a portable, organic growing environment that benefits from superior growing conditions. The mesh material aids drainage by allowing excess water to run out, while the compost, or other growing media, continues to breathe and release nutrients. The additional air flow also helps to cool root temperatures during hot weather, creating an increasingly healthy root environment. 

Natural Play Systems

Natural Play Systems are an innovative, imaginative and fun way to bring nature into a child’s learning environment. Using just GardenSoxx, plants and compost within natural spaces, you can challenge and fascinate children; providing a real sensory experience while teaching them about nature. With no need for excavation, play systems small and large can be installed above any surface. We can create anything from colourful crocodiles to magical mazes, the possibilities are endless.

There are several methods of installing Soxx, so installation can be tailored to suit your site. Our Express Blower trucks are the preferred method; with over 120 metres of flexible hose, they can effortlessly fill Soxx on site.
